Friday, April 10, 2010 – DALLAS
Lights Magazine Design Director, Troy Myatt, was selected by NASA among 50 to attend media events and 6th launch of the SpaceX CRS-6 (Commercial Resupply Services) cargo resupply flight to the International Space Station at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Troy will be will be there to document and photograph the events leading up to and the launch itself from the Canaveral Causeway.
The launch is historic in that this the second time that SpaceX, founded by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, will try to land the first stage Falcon 9 rocket onto a platform that will be floating offshore in the Atlantic. If this landing concludes without incident, this will be the definitive game changer for the future of spaceflight in that the rocket can quickly be reused without the delay of ocean extraction and potentially launched again the same day.
Meteorologists are predicting a 60-percent chance of favorable conditions for the launch set for Monday, April 13, 2015 at 4:33 EST.
A detailed account of this experience will be featured in the next issue of Lights Magazine that will coincide with a feature on Bran Ferren, Chief Creative Officer of Applied Minds and TedTalk lecturer.
